Rachel Goates is a versatile composer, arranger, and songwriter whose emotionally resonant music bridges sacred traditions, musical theatre, and media scoring for film, television, and commercials. Deeply rooted in the Latter-day Saint tradition, her original compositions and orchestrations—commissioned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—have reached millions through Conference Center performances, global broadcasts, and official publications. Notable works include “One in Charity,” the theme song for the 2016 BYU Women’s Conference, alongside other original works, arrangements, and orchestrations featured in church publications and events.
A published creator with a strong theatrical foundation, Rachel has produced original plays and musicals at Spotlight Productions Youth Theatre (which she founded) and scored a large-scale outdoor pageant in Nephi, Utah. Her production credits include project-managing the Billboard Top 25 classical album Come Dream With Me, co-producing music videos for J209 and BYU Vocal Point, and coordinating the Beyond 5: All Around the World tour across seven Asian countries.
Mentored by Tyler Castleton and trained under Pat Pattison of Berklee College of Music, she has garnered awards from the Utah Composers Guild, the LDS Music Industry Songwriting Competition, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Music and Cultural Arts Division.
Holding a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Utah and a Master of Music in Music Technology from Southern Utah University, Rachel infuses her richly layered scores with psychological insight and storytelling depth.
